Shanghai Oriental Pearl TV Tower
This TV Tower is 468m tall. It has 3 large spheres, 5 small spheres and 3 decorative spheres. We traveled up and down on a lift that moves at 7m/s. When we entered the lift, the staff introduced the TV Tower in both English and Chinese. This gave us a summary about what we were going to see and what we should expect. There are many interesting things in the TV Tower for example, a rotating restaurant, an indoor roller coaster, a sightseeing floor and many more.It is truly amazing how this modern tower combines ancient concept such as the spherical pearls with 21st Century technology.
Here at the top, we saw the whole Shanghai. It was a very beautiful view that made our jaws drop. The water was shiny and rippled when the cold wind blow. The tall buildings were sky-high. When we look down on the floors made of glass, it was very scary as we had the mindset that the glass will break and we will fall. The teachers also tried to scare us by saying the glass will break if too many people stands on it. Some people who were afraid of heights missed the amazing view and we felt that it was such a waste that they did not get to enjoy the view like how we did. When we just reach the top, we saw cleaners abseiling down from the top of the TV Tower. I admire their bravery as they had to be very careful and beware of their safety. One wrong small mistake may lead to their death.
This trip to the TV Tower was very worthwhile as we gain a lot of knowledge about Shanghai from the notice boards around the TV Tower. It was a very good experience and we would like to visit the TV Tower again when we go back to Shanghai. It was a waste we could not go to every floor of the TV Tower and see the TV Tower hotel's interior design because of the lack of time, But, the picturesque scenery of Shanghai made up for what we did not see in the TV Tower.
